WAYNE COUNTY · DREHER, LEHIGH & STERLING TOWNSHIPS · NEWFOUNDLAND
Pocono Springs is a private gated community in the Wayne County corner of the Poconos, near Newfoundland and Gouldsboro, spanning portions of Dreher, Lehigh, and Sterling Townships. It sits at roughly 2,100 feet of elevation, among the highest points on the Pocono Plateau, and is bordered on several sides by Pennsylvania State Game Lands, which keeps the surroundings wooded and rich with wildlife such as deer, wild turkey, bald eagles, and hawks. The community is reached easily from Interstate 380 and Routes 507 and 196, making it workable as both a year-round residence and a weekend getaway. At its center is the 133-acre Crystal Lake, stocked annually for fishing and open for kayaking and canoeing, with a recreation island just off the shore that holds the community's pool complex, sports courts, and picnic areas. The community is patrolled around the clock and laid out along roughly 56 miles of interior roads behind two gated entrances, giving it a private, tucked-away character that is genuinely off the beaten path.
✗ STR Not Permitted — Civic Association Prohibits STR
Short-term rentals are not permitted at Pocono Springs. The Civic Association prohibits short-term rentals across all three of the townships the community spans, so the stricter association rule governs regardless of township ordinance. The community is best suited to owner-occupants, retirees, and seasonal owners rather than rental investors. Buyers should confirm the current rental rules directly with the association before purchasing.
